Neurodegeneration: Care and Communication Course


The program includes a curriculum of 20 hours of dementia education geared towards positive approaches and most innovative care and communication. Learners will practice hands on skills as well partner and create care plans that build on retained strengths. All learners will receive certificate of learning recognized by health organizations and IU Health.

Includes lessons in improv skills to be flexible in moments of care, Virtual Dementia Tours, Positive Approach to Care, Brain Health Innovation, basics of dementia, aging and dementia care models and real-life practice.

The goal of this class is to help you understand what someone living with dementia may be experiencing by experiencing a different point of view and learning from the person directly. It is not just about learning the tools, although the tools are helpful, it is about unlearning what you knew before and relearning human connection to offer a better way of care and connection both professionally and in your personal life as well.
